Well, everyone is subject to mood swings i think to some extent...lol...what you have to realize is that the mind is a powerful tool and ally, but, if not mastered, it can work against you...and also, everything changes, from the seasons, to the world, to even us...and our moods...change is inevitable..accept it, don't object it, then you will realize...something...lol...i just don't know what it is..lol i'm not that profound :P
Acknowledge it, and call its name...call it for what it is...then you can control it :)

Depends on what's causing your mood swings. There's no way to diagnose that over the ether, so I'll just give you my personal experience.

I have frequent mood swings, which can certainly complicate my life. After years of coping, and learning through zen meditation practice to watch my emotions shift without getting caught up in them, I finally figured out that they're related to problems breaking down synthetic chemicals, many of which actually have known neurotrophic properties (they influence the brain and central nervous system). This is quite common amongst people who have suffered injurious exposures to toxins or those of us with the wrong genetics to thrive in our chem-happy world.

Try using cleaning and personal care products with fewer synthetic chemicals for awhile and eating less processed food. Even if it doesn't help your mood swings, it should help your overall health, which makes the rest that much easier to deal with.

Pray with full faith and belief-- Mood swing is due to my fickle mindedness. From right now I am leaving this bad habbit and my mind is getting completely absorbed on what I am doing or thinking. I do a single work at atime.
Practice meditation.

Start trying an exercise program when you feel a down time coming on -- exercise allows for natural endorphins to elevate you mood.
If you are having extreme highs and lows with no control and it is affecting your daily life in a negative way, there may be a medical concern where as I would recommend you see a medical professional.

i think it depends on what the cause of the mood swings is. it could be a variety of different things and after you figure that part out then you will know better how to treat it.

Other than medication... you can try to practice stability by intentionally placing yourself in situations that require various thoughts, restraints, temperament, etc. When you're not ready for heat- go out into the sun, when you feel like talking- remain silent. After awhile you may be able to condition and control erratic mood shifts. Sounds good to me!
