Breastfeeding is nature’s food for babies, and there is nothing better. It is uniquely balanced to suit your baby’s feeding needs at any stage, so as he grows older, its constituents are perfectly suited to his needs. Pre-term babies particularly benefit from this quality
It is much more easily digested than formula milk, and it produces less smelly nappies
Breast milk contains antibodies, which protect the baby from certain germs. Breastfed babies are less likely to suffer from gastrointestinal or middle ear problems than their bottle fed counterparts
Breast milk contains certain constituents that help to develop the brain and nervous system
Breastfeeding is the simplest of all infant feeding methods. There is no need to buy it, prepare it, warm it or sterilise it: it’s all there waiting for your baby
Breastfed babies are unlikely to be overfed
It can benefit you, too: the hormones that are stimulated when you are breastfeeding help your uterus to return to its normal size quickly. Research also indicates that breastfeeding can give you some protection against osteoporosis and certain forms of cancer

There are too many health benefits to list. Check out the web-site at la leche league and you'll find all kinds of interesting research. The best part for me though was never having to heat a bottle in the middle of the night!!

Breastfeeding is the biological norm. It's what baby's body expects. It is actually good for BOTH mom and baby.

Baby and mom both have lower chances of developing certain types of cancer if they breastfeed.

Less chance of obesity, diabetes, allegies, intestinal illness.

Better jaw and teeth development.

Breastmilk contains antibodies to whatever mom and baby are exposed to, so it can help keep baby healthy.

Those are just a handfull of the benefits.

It is good for both baby and mother. It helps in developing the bonding process plus mothers' milk is more easily tolerated. However, if it's not for you, do not feel badly about it as there are wonderful formulas to purchase.

breast milk is almost always the best food for infant. it offers so many benefits to baby-physical,cognitive and emotional. breast milk is more digestible and more nutritious than formula and is likely to produce allergic reactions.among the illnesses prevented or minimized by breast-feeding are diarrhea, respiratory infections, otitis media and urinary tract infections.the more often and longer babies are breastfed, the better protected they are and the better their later cognitive performance. plus, warm contact with the mother's body fosters emotional linkage between mother and baby. :)
