My wife and I found a pretty good solution for this. Put the formula scoops in the bottle, pour in some hot water first...say 1/4 of the amount of water you normally put. Close the cap and shake a bit. The hot water should remove the lumps...then add the cold water so the mix becomes warm. Close the cap and shake again (holding the bottle horizontally and shaking forward and back is better than shaking it up and down...causes less bubbles thus the baby will have less air to burp out).

You can try adding hot water, then the scoops, then the cold water...that works well, too.

I know! I always had that problem too!
And when you have to fill the water up to the 8 ounce mark ,it gets even worse, cause there's NO space to shake the 4 scoops of dry powder.
So what I do now that my baby does take 8 ounces is I put the water and the formula in a glass and mix it with a spoon ....THEN I pour it into the bottle.
It seems to be lump free!

What I do when I make formula is this: Say I am making 48 ounces, I pour 32 ounces of HOT water into the pitcher, add 24 scoops of formula, then I mix it and mix it and mix it with a whisk until there are no more lumps and then I add the other 16 ounces of COLD water and stir it up. No lumps.

I always found that putting it in a measuring cup and stirring it with a spoon worked the best. Also, just add a small amount of water to the formula in a baby bottle and stir it until it is lump free and then add the rest of the water required and stir it or shake it one last time. Good luck and God bless you.

I would mix whole amount of formula with just a little bit of quiet warm water, close the bottle and mix it really good. Then refill with the rest of water aand swirl to get the air bubbles out.

We had the same problem, so we switched to the condensed kind where you add one can water, one can formula. I loved that! IT was a ton easier when you need it fast! lol Our son was colicky the first two months, so I had to hold him constantly-even when he slept, making it difficult sometimes to make the bottles. That's my personal choice though.

always make sure you put the water in first, followed by the correct number of scoops flattened off with a knife, try using luke warm (previously boiled of course) instead of cold water. and give a damn good shake lol

You have to add the water to the bottle, the amount you need for example 6oz of water first then the powder and just shake it very well.

The only way I've ever figured out how to do that is to shake it up for a few minutes after mixing.
