we have the ability to annhilate the terrorists, we have the ability to destroy the world 3 times over, we only lack the Will to do so.
The terrorists have the Will to annhilate the west, they merely lack the means to currently do so.
One day this paradigm will shift. and many will die.

The current government is mostly Shiite as it truly represents the Iraqi population. The leader of Iraq is a moderate Shiite as opposed to the extremist Shiite leadership in Iran. The Shiite extremist are attempting to rule as Saddam did whom by the way was a Sunni from the tribal village of Tikrit. We all know how he ruled. The Iranian backed Shiite extremist militia run by Al-Sadir is attempting to gain power for the benefit of Iran. When we aren't in a place to be held accountable for our actions the Iraqi military will level the extremist Shiite militia with massive innocent lives lost in the process. GWB and Co. just can't come out and say this is the eventual plan for they would be looked upon as butcher's. The Sunni's are now struggling to survive and hold onto what power they can. The Iraqi president is a Moderate and can work with the Shiite extremists. If the Al-Sadir militia doesn't wish to comply they will be iradicated. This may prompt Iran to deploy massive troops to the Iraqi border thus threatening a wider war. Hence we will return to Iraq regardless of when we leave. While we are there Iran won't dare provoke us. I know it's outside of the box theorizing here but it is the ONLY way to speculate what is really going on behind the scenes. Especially with the Iranian president meeting with all the heads of state that he has in recent days.

Terrorism is the suited answer for a protection force in search for of an enemy. because the fall of the Soviet Union, the hawks have had a troublesome time explaining why we had to repeatedly strengthen protection force spending, yet we've got this amorphous chance of "terrorism" -- a chance it truly is so suited because it may by no skill somewhat be defeated, and so will continuously function a reachable "monster lower than the mattress" justifying yet another few billion for a sparkling stealth bomber or some hundred billion for an plane service or maybe with. yet enable's not ignore a number of issues. a million. The 9/11 attacks somewhat in contact nineteen adult males armed with knives. this is it--knives. 2. In 2001, about 3000 U.S. electorate were killed with techniques from terrorists. that exact same 365 days, about 20,000 were murdered with techniques from undemanding criminals, 40,000 died in vehicle injuries, and thousands of thousands died of maximum cancers and heart sickness. yet if someone proposed that the authorities might want to spend 1000 billion money curing maximum cancers, the hawks ought to have lengthy gone loopy. So, actually terrorism is a chance. yet statistically, that is a lot less of a chance than not wearing your seat belt or eating too many giant Macs. The question that must be replied, then, is who advantages from our disproportionate worry?

If the media people would stay out of the issue we might but with the current need to be PC and the media reporting every death I don't know. We can not spare all lives and fight a war at the same time. We can't worry about the terrorist's feelings and rights( they have no rights because they are not uniformed army and they did not sign the Geneva Convention) and come away with a victory. It doesn't matter which party is in office the whole approach in the mideast needs to be changed. Terrorist don't listen to reason or negoiations they only understand a good beat down.

First, I'll tell you how we will not defeat the terrorists. Violence begets more violence, and even though attacking Iraq has toppled Saddam, the longer reverberating effect is that violence and anti-American sentiment has multiplied in the Middle East. Things are not getting better (see the escalating numbers of casualties); and under the current gameplan, things show no sign of ever getting better. Warrantless invasion and occupation of foreign country, does little to make friends and influence people in the region.
That said, The U.S. is in a difficult but not impossible situation right now. We need leaders experienced in foreign policy and leaders who can bring countries together under a common cause of diplomacy. Advancing economic globalization will in the long run go much further than wasting vast resources and lives on military operations.
Contrary to what our leaders in our federal executive office repeatedly tell us, terrorists do not hate our freedoms. That statement is absurd. People thousands of miles away couldn't care less about our freedoms; this argument is merely a political tool to rally some uniformed and scared U.S. voters. Issues that matter: U.S. foreign policy which has decimated Iraq even before the first bombings of Iraq Part II, U.S. unquestioning support of Israel, U.S. invading and occupying Muslim countries, U.S. unilateral decision-making (this one not only makes more enemies, but it causes us to lose allies). Clearly what we need is a foreign policy change, and it's going to take a long time to rebuild the burnt bridges and mistrust our current foreign policy has arleady caused.

it depends on which terrorists you are speaking of.
any psycho can be a terrorist.
but when you consider that some fundementalist is always goign to resort to terrorist action everytime they feel threatened, the only way to completely defeat them is to take all rights away from everyone.
Crazy people are a fact of life, and so are people who have extreme views of justice. The only way to defeat terrorists, without taking away the rights of everyone, is to show them they can't make you fear them!
wow !! some folks around here really don't like facts do they?
