do i need a surge protector for my acer laptop which has a transformer, if there was a surge wouldnt it just blow the transformer ? or would it damage the laptop ?

the laptop has a1 pin connector which i havent seen any surge protectors for.

also i have broadband through the telephone line connected by a wireless netgear router, so again would a surge damage just the router ?

A surge could go through the transformer and hurt the laptop, one could also go through the phone line and hurt the router. I would get a surge protector that supports both connections.

I use those surge protectors on all electric appliances and computers you can get them in many sizes and I keep a small one in my laptop bag
