edwardjg2: The rest of the World DOES NOT repeat DOES NOT want to be like America!
Half of the U.S.A knows nothing about the rest of the World ( a census in 2004/2005 recorded that 65% of U.S citizens between the ages of 15 and 21 didn't even know where the U.K was on a map - and we're your closest allies!).
You believe that you are a democratic society but you have some of strongest censorship in the World, there are massive swaiths of the U.S that are controled by the Religious beliefs of various denominations, your Government is totally divided - your President ultimately has to broker deals to pass laws, the right to carry arms has resulted in how many deaths?
I could probably go on and on but that would look like a personal attack on yourself, which it is not- it's nothing personal. I just think that MOST of the U.S should 'Wake up and smell the coffee'
Im British and i'm Proud to be British even though we have a history of not being very nice all of the time!
Rant Over!

Dr Schmoo: WE did Own America! (remember The Pilgrim Fathers - where did they sail from? and didn't the American people at the time hold a vote as to whether to have English or German as their common language - they chose English funnily enough!) and who has created the mess in the middle east now? and how nice of you to 'bail us out' in the 2nd World war (Lol) thanks for coming in at THE LAST MINUTE only due to the fact that Japan was now baring it's teeth and the fact that Germany was developing the Atom bomb and the U.S wanted the technology ( don't forget that the U.S Government held back from joining in until the power of this technolgy was proven, despite several request from Churchill at the time for ,initially, Humanitarian Aid ). Britain is only a small place (probably why most young Americans cannot find us on a map) with limited resources and manpower though this did not stop us from ruling a lot of the globe at one time - i don't think that America is Imperialistic (we in Britain had our own Empire on 'Which the Sun Never Set') so WE are/were imperialistic. We still have a Commonwealth of countries which is mainly a political gathering of friends that we once ruled over.
I have nothing against America whatsoever - fantastic scenery and genuine people-, just don't believe that it sees the whole picture all of the time - and it is becoming more like that the World over.

Every government on this earth does what is politically right, not what is morally, economically, environmentally right even 50%. Its about power and money. In the case the old Soviet Union its was a checks and balance system with the west. Yet i remember how much the world complained and pitied the Soviets and cried down with Communism. Do we really wish to see that again just to have a watch dog for the America and Britain which i am a citizen of both? i should say not. The people need to begin to realise that in a democratic society they are the voice and the force of change. If the people in the countries that have that right to vote get out and do so instead of bitching and not doing what is their lawful right in their own countries how can we then place people in power who will work for a change for the right reasons...Americans and Britain's alike have the right to be be a force of change. but do they vote?? the figures show otherwise. want to change the bullies get out make a choice and make the change. Stop wishing for the past. Make a future for yourself and future generations that will be proud.

The US are not bullies. This country has helped almost all other countries in their time of need. The us has taken care of Saddam twice when he got out of hand. The US bailed out France, and Holland in WW2. The US bailed out the Philippines from the Japanese in WW2. The US takes political refuges from all over the world and allows them a chance at a better life. If the UN would do its job the US could stop playing world police and fix problems at home. The US doesn't go tuck its tail between its legs when someone needs help. I wish we could live our lives without dealing with the Mideast, China, Korea and all of the other trouble spots on the globe but who would take care of these problems and prevent these rouge nations from destroying the world? France, Canada, the UN?

IF America is such a bully and so imperialistic, then why is Europe still independant after America got the Europeans out of messes of Europe's own making FOUR times in the last century?
(2 World wars, 2 rebuildings) If America had wanted to, they could have owned europe and the UK outright a long time ago.
America saved europe from itself, and then gave it back to the europeans so they could express their thanks by stabbing America in the back! How is that being a bully?
