A month ago I asked my employer for days off that I needed because im schedualed to go to school for my Mortgage Broker License. This class is a weekend class. I work saturdays so I have tuesdays off to make up for it. So I switched tuesday with my co worker for friday of this week so I can go this weekend to my class. But saturday I dont have off and they wont give it to me either. I am also moving into my new apartment this weekend at the same time that I have to go to school. I have tried numerous times to ask for saturday off to go to my class but they wont give it to me. I really feel like this is so inconsiderate so im planning on taking a sick day. My employer would already know that im taking that day off for school because I have already requested it, so most probably I would either get written up or fired. I really cant lose this job because its the only job thats keeping my head over the water so I need to have a doctors note so they wont have a reason to fire me. Help!

I requested these days off a month ago. So I feel that I dont need to make sure that they can give me days off to go to school. The option to go to school shouldnt be made by the employer.

Go to a walk in clinic or your doctor that day and tell him you're feeling sick (vomiting or whatever) and he'll give you a note. It'll cost you 10-20$ though

I really find it hard to belive that "doctors notes" exist outside of college campuses-- or at least that you'll be able to find a doctor willing to give you one.

Generally doctors only give "notes" for long-term handicap situations.

Honestly, I think you should have made sure you had the day off before signing up for the class. Have you tried re-scheduling with the school? If not, it's either take a sick day (and the risk of losing the job) or going to work and missing the class.

Is it "inconsiderate" or your employer? Sure, but you're scheduled and they're not obligated to oblige.

Can you switch with a co-worker for Saturday?

I recall your question from last month that you asked, but don't know of any way to get around your employer. Sure, you could fake it, get a fake or real note, etc.-- but that's risky, at best.

Good luck, though.

Looks like push has come to shove. Your boss has no heart.
Switch days with a coworker, or go to the doc before Sat. and get an excuse that u are sick with an allergy.
If all else fails, another job is right around the corner with heart.
But get a job before u quit the previous one.
Education will get u a better job anyway , so dont miss the school thing.

Trade with someone who can do your job on Saturday. Give them an extra fifty dollars, make them want to work for you!

if your in that much need go to a clinic and complain of a sore throat or something. unless you have a friend who is a physician but most wont fake it because it risks their license

Whether you get someone to do it for you or you actually go to the doctor, you will have to pay. So, which would you rather do? Contact me and I will give you more information.

make an appointment, tell the doctor you have flu like symptoms..or head lice...
you will get an excuse..
but honestly with headlice, you are guaranteed 3 days off..no questions asked...

just tell him you treted it the morning before your appointment
