Which were that:

"The British are much more intelligent and civilised than the Americans" and that "[she] love[s] the English lifestyle. It's not as capitalistic as America. People talk about interesting things at dinner - not about work and money."

I'm British, but she always came across as snobby to me anyway!

The celebrities always say things were taken out of context...

The thing is that is doesn't matter how much she loves Britain.. we will never see her as British.. she is American to us.. as is Madonna.
Gwyneth reminds me of Catherine Zeta Jones who also has this weird false American-Welsh accent and seems to despise Britain.

Well in America everyone is given the right to express their opinion. What I find interesting is that Gwyneth Paltrow is 1 of many at the top of the Capitalist food change. Which I would say she is a hypocrite. If she feels that way about America she has many freedoms, that would include the freedom to leave.

when they say that money can change people, i think that she is another living example. She grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth so she doesnt know what its like for the REAL American who has to get up everyday to work hard so that they can bring home an income to support their family. All she had to do was tell the people at the audtition that her mother was an actress and her father is a director and she got the part.

As for americans talking about only work and money, I competely disagree with that. I think that she just watches to much television. I live in Maryland and that is one of the states where people are so proud to be American. I have been at some of my co workers dinner tables, and yeah sometimes we talk about work and you know why? because that is where we spend most of our dayz. do you know what Paltrow probably spends most of her dayz? Movie premieres, private parties and fashion shows, so when she tells us that she would rather speak intellectually its because if she were to speak about her own life it wouldnt be about politics and important events, but more about where she found the latest prada handbag. She doesnt know the value of hardwork, and what does she mean that people talk about money? what is their to talk about, so what if I want to express what i am goin to do when I retire or the next investment that I would like to make.

Bottom Line: Her life is boring and she finds that the British are exciting because she is nothing like them, if anything she just picked up their legendary snobbish ways. I wonder what would happened if she for some reason couldnt make any more movies and her husband couldnt make any more records? I bet your bottom dollar that she would move back to america in a heartbeat.

All the money and prestige in the world will never allow to me to forget where I'm coming from, and she of all people need to get off her a#$% and do like Angleina Jolie is doing is and help out those in need

and by the way, the british will always except you once they realize that you got money....right madonna?

Me being nor British neither American have always had a soft spot for the former and have made it clear in many an occasion. I'm no celebrity, though, so, who cares... Much tactless of Ms Paltrow, however, she being in the public eye....Bound to end up in one of those "Hollywood most shocking mos" or whatever they feature on that TV channel that goes by the name of E! Entertainment here in Italy

well, I'm a North American living in Britain right now, and, I gotta say, it's a matter of who you hang out with. There are idiots in America and idiots in Britain, I'm sure Gwynnie just has the advantage of not having to shop at Tescos and seeing all the chavs acting like uncilvilised morons. It's easy to think that all Brits are wonderfully civilised when the only ones you interact with are the patrons at The Ivy.

I'm American. I didn't hear about this but it doesn't surprise me. Alot of Americans agree with her, look at Madonna. Watch her develop an English accent now! I think it was a bit snobby to say. She could've expressed her feelings like saying something like "I love the British. They are so intelligent and interesting." and not compared them to Americans. I see where she is coming from a bit though.

Let's face it, her only experience of the English is as an actress, and rubbing shoulders with people in those circles. She can't possibly compare the two civilisations.

She has always (according to the press) wanted to bag an English 'toff', i.e. Rich b@stard, so she's hardly spent her time over here in social clubs or at the bingo...

I think she just forgot that any press is still press and said something stupid.

I have to say that with some people I have had the same problem, all they ever seem to talk about is money and work, but I realised it had nothing to with nationality and everything to do with personality. It just depends who you hang out with and what you have in common. If you don't have anything to talk about then money and work are a safe option.

My first response is, "who cares about what Gwyneth Paltrow thinks?" I'm an American who used to live in England and I know that people are generally equal in intelligence. The difference is that the English are much more class conscience and Gwyneth is obviously associating herself with royalty.

I also have to say the Americans are their own worse critics, especially as it concerns politics.

Well she should have enough sense to realise that comments like that will spark outrage. Where is Hollywood again? Oh yeah, America! So, when in Rome act as the Romans.

I suppose that's her testimony of the Hollywood crowd she used to hang with. She must have her reasons, but it was quite arrogant and ignorant of her to generalize all Americans.

Like the Dixie Chicks, I think she has bit the hand that feeds her.
