Depends whether you are using it to help you get pregnant or to avoid pregnancy. I don't think they are great at preventing pregnancy as they can only tell you when you are most fertile rather than whether you are fertile at all. You're best to use some other method to prevent pregnancy unless you take proper classes in natural contraception (ask your GP or in your local boots stores for details of classes). They are great for helping you get pregant though, especially if you have an irregular cycle. Good luck!

Ovulation kits are a good way of predicting ovulation, but they shouldn't be used in iscolation from your bodys natural fertility signs and so aren't really necessary.

Take your temperature every morning when you wake up. It will rise when you ovulate (around the middle of your cycle) and will stay higher until your next period. Once released your egg remains viable for fertilisation for just 12-24 hours.

Also keep an eye on your mucus. It will become stretchy like egg white as you approach ovulation. Sperm can survivie for up to 5 days in this most fertile mucus.

It is recommended that you have intercourse every other day for a week before you ovulate and the day after.

I took a great NFP home study course with the Couple to Couple League which I can highly recommend. You can also chart your cycles online with FertiltyFriend.com.

Good luck!

i used them and they do work. i got a Boots one. you need to have some idea as to when you are ovulating yourself and the leaflet that comes with the kit explains how to do this. I managed to work mine out and use the kit to find out when I was ovulating. I am now due to have my second baby in May 2007. best of luck to you.

I used one. i had been trying for 6 months, with no joy. I then decided to give these a go before seeing a doctor. I fell pregnant the first time that I used them. So i would defiantly recommend them.
