Take the train. It is not expensive and leaves every 15 minutes. For instance .14 and .44 it leaves from central station to the hague central station. It takes 49 minutes that one.
A single fare 9.50, return 17.50.
It really depends from where you go. Amsterdam has several stations and The Hague has two big ones (Centraal and HS)
Try it yourself at www.ns.nl

(use Amsterdam and Den Haag, not The hague)

From Amsterdam Central, one can take the train to The Hague Central. There are 4 fast trains or Intercities an hour. A one way trip takes you not two hours, but approximately 50 minutes and costs you € 9,50 for a single and € 17,50 for a return.
