Does the report brought to focus the failure of Indian `secular politics' in helping the Muslims to develop educaitonally and economically ? It also exposed the Marxists concern to Muslims only intended to vote bank politics, as the report established in three decades of CPM rule, the percentage of Muslims in government service was brought down to one third in West Bengal.

Whether the report supports or not, such a reservation policy should be done away with in a secular nation like India! As with democracy, we should also put emphasis on meritocracy! This should go well with emerging India and globalization!

I think all that the sachar report does -- is point out a problem - i.e. muslim backwardness -- and a few solutions -- not necessarily reservations -- ( which some in the committee actually feel will only be an political gimmick)
I do not know if working out whether the BJP / CPM / Congress are to blame will necessarily sort out things. I do not know if helping the under privileged would necessarily compromise on our society's meritocracy .
All I know is the vast majority of muslims (as pointed in the sachar report) would like their children going to schools as opposed to madrasas if they had a choice. And in the states where they have had the opportunity because of the educational programs i.e as in southern states -- they have done ok. Working for the upliftment of all Indians regardless of their caste / creed -- would only result in a stronger and more prosperous India.

NO, it does not support the reservation for the Muslims.but it indicates the miserable conditions of Muslims in India. it also suggests some measures to improve their condition:-
1..... Formation of EQUAL OPPORTUNITY COMMISSION to suggest and review their condition.
2......To give validity to the degree of MADARASAS.
3.... to amend the section 3 of THE SCHEDULED CASTE ORDER OF INDIA , 1950 to include dalit coverts into Muslims called ARZALS in reservation
4.... to give preferences to Muslims in education, jobs and housing facility to include them into mainstream.
