its called brainstorming - used by multimillion dollar corporations.
People like to discuss things before they execute an action - it is a basic element of human communication. Do you really want to waste your doctors time with every whim you have on your mind? No-one mandates that anyone take the advice provided - and those who make bad decisions will do so with or with out others input - look at television.

Ok, you're absolutely right. But maybe, they ask that 'coz they're too young and therefore too afraid to ask a doctor. I was just reading a post of a 14 yr.old saying she is pregnant. I don't know if it's true though.

Doctors are the best source, but sometimes it can be more reassuring to know that others have had the same issues or worries. Sometimes, a person finds better help from a less clinical, more homeopathic method others can present.

I think alot of people including myself would like to get a general opinion of how other people dealt with or had the same problems or experiance with the same thing. If it is not something serious, and don't want to wait until our next apointment.

Sometimes it is easier to ask people who dont know us. It's OK if you phrase your question, "Do you think..........?" and not, " Am I pregnant?" or " Must I .......?".
