can i used 1256mb of ram on my pc at the same frequency speed or the 256mb will not be used by the motherboard therefore will be some kind of useless? please help me out and please which memory producer you consider to be the best?

Dual-channel DDR2 memory modules should be installed in pairs of matched memory size. If the DDR2 memory modules are not installed with the same amount of memory in each channel, the computer will continue to operate, but with a slight reduction in performance.
Recently Corsair seems to be the fastest DDR2 ram available, however, I personally would go for any manufacturer that offers a lifetime warranty (such as Kingston).
