Well as far I have know , they burn btwn 350-450 calories per day. I always hear this "woman who breastfeed loose weight so fast after the baby". I did not breastfeed with my first baby, and lost all the weight in two months, with no effort. With my second , she is now 9 months old and I am still nursing I can't seem to get rid of 15 lbs! I know about 15 women who say the same thing. They have had a harder time getting rid of the weight when they decided to nurse. I believe it leaves you after you stop nursing, oh well, guess I'll just be patient!

I am not sure of the exact number but I was always told that it takes more calories to make milk than it does to make a baby. That's why women who breast feed lose weight faster after they deliver than women who bottle feed their babies.
