Do not delete these unless you know what they are. They are necessary registry files for installed software. Deleting them can render the software useless. If you have already uninstalled the associated program, you could delete these but the unistall should have already handled this. Hope this helps.

Please consider re-phrasing your question.
HKEY is an abreviation used for registry keys in the Windows registry, that you see when you run the "regedit" program on your PC.

If you do mean registry keys and not files, then you shouldn't delete those registry keys, unless you *really really* know what you are doing.

If you really mean files on your Harddisk that start with HKEY, and your virus scanner complains about a virus contained in these files, then yes, you can delete them. I have no HKEY files on my harddisk.

Again: Check if you don't mean HKEY *Registry entries*, that you see by running the "regedit" program.
Don't delete these unless you know what you are doing, as deleting important registry keys will make your Windows installation un-startable.

OI, NO!
They are registry keys and you will end up paralysing your computer if you do so. Of course, there are some obsolete registry keys, which can removed safely without harming your OS. You may download the free software from the link below to remove obsolete entries:

HKEY stands for "Handle to Key". Its wise not to delete these files unless you are very very sure what you are doing. Please give more details why and which HKEY file you want to delete so that I donot give you a wrong advice.

No you can not delete those files. Your system will not work. Please be more specific such as if you have a virus or spyware that is within the HKEY's.
