well coming from sri lanka,yes.instead of thinking vr all human u start thinking on racial lines.u will not think globaly and every thing around u becomes a conspiracy.

Of course there is, thats when it turns into Nationalism and Fascism. When we forget that as amazing as our country is, there are other countries out there that have valuable parts and concepts too. Thats when patriotism becomes ugly, when you become blind to other countries values. It's like having a family and only believing in your family, so all other families are bad. Its not yours, your family isn't diminished by anothers, it's just as wonderful as it has been, there doesn't have to be a competition.

Patriotism is ugly when loyalty is blind just like what happened to the "kamikazes" of Japan and the perceived holy soldiers of jihad that became terrorists.

Yes, weird, I was just studying this last night- if it gets too extreme, you have movements like Naziizm. It causes countries to fight each other. It causes militaries to build up. It forces minorities to blend into the majority culture
