i want to post some holiday pics on a particular website. help!

Different websites use different methods, they all post instructions so look for those first. It will either instruct you to link or to upload.
If its upload, you use their tools to click on the photo on your desktop, then you click the 'upload' button and wait.
If its 'link' then you need an image hosting account. You can get basic ones free. Photobucket, Imageshack and Flickr are all free. You upload your photo to your image hosting account, then they give you a link. You copy and paste that link.
Without knowing what you're trying to do we can't give you any more info.

Well what is the website?
Some will allow you to upload instantly - i.e http://www.piczo.com
That is done through the photos sections...
Others like http://www.myspace.com - will ask for the HTML which can be obtained using a image hosting service. I favour:
http://www.imageshack.us - free to upload and easy to use.
Either way without the site you are using I can't really explain in more detail.

Try www.rockyou.com you can make some cool slide shows there for free.
