Hugo Chavez is not a communist; there is a huge difference between communism and socialism. If he were a communist, the first thing he would have done was provide weapons to the masses, and immediately seize control over all of the media- Chavez has done neither. Also, in communism there is no God, again Chavez has never proclaimed he is anti-God.
I think it's about time a Latin American president takes control over the economy of their country instead of letting foreigners exploit the country's resources and people while reaping huge profits.
Chavez supports the poor and has shown to be committed to social programs.
And, I'm not surprised if the USA is frantically planning a coup against him. Let's not forget the CIA's involvement supporting Dictator Jorge Ubico in Guatemala, the Somoza's of Nicaragua, and most importantly, supporting the coup against democratically elected socialist president Salvador Allende in Chile that led to the atrocious regime of Pinochet.
Viva Chavez!

He is a commie. I don't see the difference between socialism and communism. He nows says he is going to install the "socialism of the 21st century" according with his Boliviarinism beliefs. This is basically giving government handouts to people and nationalizing every business. The redistrubition of wealth and following Karl Marx's beliefs. He is a dirty commie! Chavez is a threat and should be eliminated, the people of Venezuela don't know what they've gotten themselves into.

Anyone who has the guts to stand up to the Yanks, unlike our lapdog of a leader, Blair, can't be all bad.
