ITC's Cigarettes business has been winning numerous awards for its quality, environmental management systems and product excellence:

5 star Health and Safety Rating and the "Sword of Honour" from the British Safety Council for its cigarette factories at Bangalore, Munger, Kolkata and Saharanpur for 2005-06.

All the cigarette factories have won the "ROSPA GOLD Award," 2006 on Occupational Safety from The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, UK.

All its cigarette factories have won the prestigious Greentech Safety Gold Award for the year 2006 in the manufacturing sector. These awards are in recognition of the high level of performance that the units have achieved in Environment Health and Safety (EHS).

Its factory at Bangalore has won the "Safety Innovation Award 2006" for Innovative Safety Management System from the Safety & Quality Forum (Institution of Engineers) and also the "Best Industry for safe work practices (Large scale Industry)" from the Government of Karnataka- Department of Factories and Boilers.

The cigarette factory at Kolkata was awarded the "1st National Security Today Award 2005" in the category of Best Maintained Fire Safety System.

The factory at Munger has been awarded the first prize for "Excellence in Pollution control management for the year 2004-05" from the Bihar State Pollution Control Board.

ITC's Tobacco Technology Centre at Peenya, Bangalore has the distinction of being the first independent R&D centre in India to get ISO 9001 accreditation.
