Smith is meted life sentence and is now committed to the Makati City Jail. His lawyers will file an appeal with the Court of Appeals.
It is an apellate court to which facts will be heard. One fact that his lawyer will push with is the provision of the Visiting Forces Agreement where the accused will be under the jurisdiction of the US government (without the american bases, the american embassy will provide him protection) while the case is being heard in the appellate courts.

smith was found guilty, but 3 the other 3 were found not guilty.., bc0z it was found that smith raped nicole.., nicole was glad enough to see smith in jail.
