Yes, it's a must in one's life. I read it in my 20's myself after we had to read his "Animal Farm" as an external reading as part of our English literature courses.

You might think the year '1984' looks so simple because now it's 2006, but, from what I read from his biography, it's his own idea to shift the year the novel's completed & published, that is,1948 to 1984 to make it unimaginable and challenging his readers to read and enjoy.

Right, it's something like a sci-fi one but it makes you think why such a novel was writtten during the cold war. Let me quote from Desmond MacCarthy who wrote to him, "You have made an indelible mark on English literature ... you are among the few memorable writers of your generation."

1984 is a must read. It's in my recommendation of "10 Books You Must Read Before You Die". Haha.

Yeah it is a very cool book. Those things didn't happen in 1984 but they are starting to happen now. LOL don't wanna give too much away!!

I read it years ago in high school but didn't really appreciate it until last year when I re-read it. A very intriguing, bizarre read that I would recommend to anyone.
