PLEASE don't quote the theory at me, I know what it is. I just wanna know whether you think it's true ... false ... sick but true ... sick but false etc, and your reasons. It's for a uni project. Personally, I think it's a good theory.

I thinks it's true but has different results depending on the family. A mother is the first female that a boy encounters so naturally he is going to base his judgment of all women based on what he has learned from his mother.
The majority of male psycho/serial killers have "issues" with their mothers, many men look for a woman who is similar in manner and appearance to their mother. There are many men who absolutely hate their mothers and this dictates how they treat other women.
So yes it I believe it's true to a certain extent. I don't think it's sick, it's just human nature.

it is neither sick but true, nor sick but false. It is a beautiful theory. And mind it, the beauty of the theory is, that it is so hidden that knobody knows he has had an odepus complex, until somebody actually tells them what it is. It is also one of the bravest theories in pshycology

I think Freud had some serious problems and projected his feelings into his theory. No, I do not think he is correct.

I don't think that its true at all.I'm a girl and I did once ask to french one of my parents...but it wasn't my dad.Also I should point out that I was about 5.
