substituting y^2=4x + 8 in the other

x^2+4x + 8=5
x^2+4x+3=0
now find two numbers suc that their product is three and their sum is 4. 3 isprime so its easy, the numbrs is 1 and 3.
see 1*3 = 3 and 1*4 = 4
spliting 4x into that numbers]

X^2 + x + 3x+3 =0
(x^2+x) + (3X+3) = 0

[x(x+1)+3(x+1)] = 0

(x+1) (x+3) =0

if two numbers on multiplying gives zero then either or both of themmust be zero...

so
x+1 must be zore

or
x+3 =o

if x+1 = 0 , then x= -1 and if x+3 = 0 then x= -3....

if x = -1,
y^2 = -4+8=4

y = +2, -2,.

if x= -3

y^2 = -12+8 = -4

if u have studied Complex numbers then y = +2i,-2i;

or simply solution does not exists in real numbers....

so answrs
x = -1, y = 2, -2
x = -3 , y = 2i, -2i, or solution does not exists inreal numbers...
