I'm in a dire state of mind. My Parents first got me into genesis when i was 8 yrs old. Now Genesis is touring again and my parents don't want to go see them because they feel its just Phil Collins trying to earn an extra buck or two.
Is it just me, or does anyone else think that they're not just in it for the money

If they are touring with PC as front person I will be in the queue!!!!

Saw them in 1987 on the Invisible Touch tour and they were brilliant.

All the old bands are touring for a few more bucks for retirement but hey, what price nostalgia. Just look at the Stones.

Went to the the Eagles in summer. Blew the socks off any concert I have ever been to.

Tell your mum and dad to go and see them. They may never get another chance.

If they are touring with the other bloke as front man (you know the one who took over from PC) then don't bother.

I think thats nonsense, they are worth millions just on previous album sales. I personally dont like Genesis but I do appreciate how good they are and I will be going. They must be doing it because they are musicians and love to play. Look at other bands like U2, they keep touring and making albums and they dont need the money either.
Take That however do need the money and I feel its a big con on the public to reform and make millions.

That question came up during their press conference. If it was for the money, why stop at just 20 shows in Europe and 20 shows in the US- a year apart? Why not hit Asia, Africa, or South America where they've also sold out crowds? They just want to get back together to play again for old-times sake, and to please the fans who've been hoping the group would tour again for nearly a decade.

Personally I hope this'll lead to a new album with new material in their discography, but that may be wishful thinking!

erm... i thought that phil collins left genesis in the 80's and the rest of the band continued with the name...

Although Collins might make some royalties on the songs i'm fairly sure he wont be playing AS Genesis....

I could be wrong, but thats how i understood the situation...

Whether they are in it for the money or not is really irrevelent, if you want to see them live, you'll pay, the obviously want to do live shows or they'd just cut an album...

if you want to see them, see them

Sorry to be cynical, but I really think it's for the money! Why would anyone put themselves through all that work at their age if they weren't skinto?!
