I went to Sham El sh eek last year we had a great holiday the weather was great the pool was heated the only problem that we had was in the town,we were getting a lot of hassle from the shopkeepers wanting us to buy there goods we tried to politely say no but they got really angry at us for not buying their goods,We went into one of the shops to have a look and we got locked in until we brought something it was really scarier,Then there are the cab,s the locals call them flying coffins we got into one and the driver drove down the duel carriageway on the wrong side of the road with no lights on to save his battery i will never get in one of the cabs again

it depends on the place u-r goin' to visit:
Hurghada/Sharm el Sheikh/Dahab/Taba..etc...
Sharm is the most civilized place...
just remeber - u'd better not say everybody that u're american - say british or iceland))))...; look after ur purse (keep it in safebox)...; also - the egypt sellers/taximen are very annoying...; use haggling - u could cut the price twice (souvenirs/taxi)...; taximen are crazy - i call them suiside-drivers; eat fresh fruits and vegetables which have a shell and only after u wash it carefully and cut the shell with a knife (if u want to escape diarea)))..)...; in caffees choose food which coocked with thermal treatment for the same reason ))) (also to be on the safe side - u should have immodium)...; don't drink water from water supply system and use it for teeth brushing - buy clean water at supermarkets...; if smdy annoys u or play a joke as Bella said - address tourist police immideately...;
exchange $$ in the airport or National Bank of Egypt offices - the best exchange rate...; don't drink local alcohol (brrr - only beer is well) after ur arrival u have 48 hours for duty free (12am-12pm) to buy smth (up to 3 bottles of 1 litre)...
caz i adore free-diving and diving i spent all day in the sea and ...in whole - good luck..(the red sea is amazing - corals/fishes - it's worth diving..if u'll be to Sharm - visit Ras Mukhammed and Tiran Island)....)))

went to sharm great place but i agree with Bella the same happened to me . Locked in shop for half an hour with my wife. when i wanted to to leave their friends turned up i got really agitated and wife was scared. Cabs are ok when you get used to them, i live in spain and similar over here ( mad drivers ) and last but not least shop keepers leave you alone when you start to get some colour. Have a good trip
