I do not approve of whaling, and I accept the fact that there must be some sort of response when a species is being destroyed against the will of the people who would protect them. Whatever else we need to do, we need to find a way to protect animals from extinction.

But I am a little worried that you are turning people off with terms like "piss off" and the expression "our whales," as if you or your country owned them.

No one owns those whales but them. They are "free range" whales, if you will, and that is part of the problem. It may be that an international treaty can save them, but it only takes one country who defies the will of the majority to cause a terrible consequence.

My own feeling is that we need to support those who are working to save the whales, but not resort to name-calling ("soulless" is going too far) and emotional appeals. We should do it because it is the right thing. Stand on the dignity of the fact that you are right, and help your cause all the more.

The number of whales that Japan, Norway and other whale hunting countries is strictly controlled by the IWC (International Whaling Commission). These countries are capturing whales to preserve the marine resources worldwide.

Whales eat huge amount of fish, which destroys ecological cycle and marine resources. We need to keep the balance by hunting a fixed number of whales every year.

Please refer to the International Whaling Commission.
