The stop light is a major problem. Fill with oil immediately.

My 98 Xsara 1.6 has always drunk oil from new. It just seems to be a feature of the engine, but I've never let it get to the stop lamp stage.

is the light red or orange
if i am right you have a 1900 diesel or td
if so (orange) means that you have water in the fuel filter housing but some of the switches go faulty
at the back of the fuel filter housing there is a drain plug. open it and let it empty(engine off)prime pump and try that
if its (red )you have a problem with an oil preasure switch or oil level try an oil change if still on get the switch checked
hope this helps

Check your oil and replace the oil filter if needed.
If lights still on, check the oil sensor on the engine, then do a general diagnostics for the electrical network of the car if needed.

The problem is your cars oil.
you should either change it or complete it as the level is low.
the engine is easily damaged from lack of oil...so go fix it.
