Well, is her blood pressure always at that rate? Then I suggest she get her cholesterol checked because she may have clogged arteries. Is she in a high risk category? ie smoker, high stress, amphetamine or cocaine user? Is she overweight and no exercise? There are websites you can just punch high blood pressure into your searchbar, and will tell you all you need to know. You need not bare her soul to all here but I covered a few of the questions that need to be asked before you make her go to the doctor to be checked out. Also, a little blood pressure monitor that can be worn around the wrist, like a Wristech, are well worth the money. They can run anywhere from 30 dollars to 75 dollars and are invaluable to keep track. That way you know if it is constantly high or not and if used properly, you can track the behaviors that cause the bp to rise. And, honestly? Her rise in blood pressure about your relationship with her is natural while she is upset. If it stays that way, she needs a doctor's care. Quit upsetting her. If you honestly feel that you upsetting her is going to kill her, think again. Unless she has an unhealthy cardiac system, don't give yourself that much credit. LOL! Sorry, had to say that. Check her bp in a few weeks. It will probably be fine.

Normal systolic is less than 130 with diastolic less than 85. High normal is 130 to 139 systolic and diastolic 85-89. Hypertension or high bp is diastolic 140 and up with systolic more than 90.

Me, I have high blood pressure. I must say though, I politely disagree with the one who claims to be a cardiac nurse who claims that high blood pressure isn't caused by stress. If it happens enough, it can lead to high blood pressure. Stress kills? Yes. Organs? Last I heard, my heart is an organ and mixed with adrenaline from stress related instances, yes, I feel it very much and have chest pains. I know some who have died from having high blood pressure and being faced with a situation they just cannot bear, like finding out about the death of a loved one. Stress has caused me to feel like my heart is going to pound out of my chest, so logic tells me that yes, stress can make your blood pressure soar and kill you. Death from high blood pressure can be the result of many ailments. One ailment includes being emotionally distraught and tense. High blood pressure isn't referred to as hypertension for no reason. Hmmmm. Stress does kill. There's healthy stress and unhealthy stress. Unhealthy stress will cause high blood pressure if it is constant or occurs often. If she is only 15, I would not worry too much.
Get her to the doctor. Good luck.

Assuming that the 142 you mentioned is the systolic reading ( the upper number in the blood pressure reading, then yes that would be considered high and around the range where treatment should be sought out. High blood pressure (hypertension) is a serious health issue. It sounds to me like she may have hypertension and then when she gets stressed or upset it can cause it to go up even further. But stress itself will no CAUSE high blood pressure. It is a disease. It can affect all organ systems and cause damage to heart and kidneys as well as increased risk for stroke. She should see a doctor.
