I would rather call him a great Leader. A Leader who had his vision clearly fixed. He led the people of India of his time to oppose a Mighty Colonial Power which was ruling this country. The methods adopted by him for this cause were unique (IE) Non-violence and non-cooperation. For this purpose he had sacrificed a lot of his personal life. But his greatest folly was accepting partition of this great Country which caused great misery to millions of Hindus and Muslims. We cannot decide whether Gandhi was good or otherwise.

it is obvious that some of them like him n dislike him

But as a Individual he has secrified his whole life for his nation

he was able to live life in luxry but he desided to lead India for betterment of the every Indian

But he was not polititian and the politics has over lapped its whole glory and sacrifises

read his history from birth to his death and evaluate your answer by your own efforts

at last, read his book - My experiment with Truth

in mahatmagandhi time, i am not on the earth. but we studied history about independece. many peoples fight for freedom in their ways. but mahatma fight for freedom in truthfulway. because at the time of before independence days people not know their stamina. there are several languages. so communication is very poor. the feeling of unity is less. so physically fighting against british empire is so hard. there is no great leader to leadership for phisically fight. so mahatma choose truthful way for independence. after independence he pointed that truthful way is always not corret. so mahatma is really good person.

A person admired by entire world can't be bad. But all that glitters is not gold. He might had some bad patches in his life. Nobody is perfect in their life. The greatest good thing is his admission towards wrong things. Do u agree?

Preaching is easy but practicing is very very difficult. I think every body accepts this. Gandhiji is great because he relentlessly tried all his life to practise what he preached. That is why he could rally tens of millions of poor, helpless indians to take on the mighty British. We can understand his greatness when we try to practise atleast one thing which we preach.
