Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas?
A great reminder that there are some in the world that will live in poverty and inhumane conditions over Christmas.
East 17 - Stay Another Day
It's on all the Christmas albums in the UK even though the song itself has nothing to do with Christmas. The link with Christmas is the fact it was the 1994 UK Christmas no.1. Even so, I just think it's a great song. It reminds me of my nan who passed away a few years ago.

"Happy Christmas (War is Over)" by John Lennon

At the time I thought that's what Christmas was all about. Now, being less naive, I realise that's what Christmas should be about and "Peace on Earth" should be more than a cliche.

A close second is "Peace on Earth / Little Drummer Boy" by Bing Crosby and David Bowie. It brough together two generations with different styles of music. Alas, it's not the spirit of Christmas anymore. Was it ever?

Silver Bells by Kate Smith - she just really knows how to belt out a song and I just love the words and sentiment of this song. She also sings a great "God Bless America".

Fairytale of New York - because its different I love the Shane Mc Gowan and Kirsty Mccoll and the gruffness is better than the twinkly happy clappy stuff which annoys me
