Is it a great company with low prices that's good for our economy or is it a monopoly that hurts our economy by buying all imported merchandise and paying it's workforce minimum wages?

I agree with your 2nd answer. The company is too big and has caused too many smaller companies to go out of business. They lower their prices and lose money on some things until the smaller guys cannot compete and close. Then they rise their price again.
They continue like this until there are very few competitors left. Then it will be them alone to set whatever prices they want too.
They are not giving low prices on some things because they like the consumer. They are trying to get rid of the competition.

I think Walmart has "had it's day". If I shop there (and I don't unless I really have to do it), I can see by the way the personnel work that they are very unhappy. They have a huge turnover. I also noticed that once the public comes in, they act like animals! What is with that? I know it's convenient; sometimes it's cheap, but there are exceptions but the "experience" leaves much to be desired. I don't like the fact that Walmart has put others out of business; but then again, that's our own fault because of the publics shopping practices. I do my shopping locally, in small stores whenever possible. I don't like being nickled and dimed to death, nor to I like Walmart shoving things down my throat with the "holiday of the month" crap. It is just too much and breeds malcontempt with the public and the employees. Enough Already! Godloveya'll...!

I agree with your second answer- it is a monopoly that kills small towns and small businesses. They claim to sell made in the USA but I don't believe it. Also I hardly ever find anything there, most of the items they sell are made cheap, especially clothes. I don't shop there, not even for groceries, it is not worth fighting the crowds and the people are so rude. I can't believe that they make billions but pay their employees minimum wages which forces them to go on welfare. How is that helping the economy? They even encourage their employees to shop at Walmart which puts that money back into the corporate's pockets. Plus you get treated like crap- NO THANKS. I'll keep shopping at the malls and the regular grocery store.

I agree with Gurilie. I worked at a Sam's Club (same company) and they treat their employees poorly. I shop at Target because they carry more innovative things and don't pass judgment on products. Walmart won't stock certain books, CD's, prescriptions etc. They are retailers, not a religion.

I buy and I used to work there while in college. I think they are getting a little to big for their own good . They do have low prices. Yes they treated me like crap when I worked there. So I guess I feel indifferent.

I live in the UK and love going to Canada and America once a year for a family visit. I HAVE to visit Walmart - their clothes are great and different to what I can get in the UK and much cheaper. Although in the UK we have ASDA (part of the same group) it's just not as good. One great big shop with everything in it - just the kind of thing I like! I always have to make sure my suitcase is big enough for everything I've purchased...

I like the prices. It makes my money stretch farther. I know a lot of people dislike Walmart for their business practices, but it brings in a lot of jobs in rural communtities and helps to keep prices lower in the market place.
