Advertising revenue. When you do a search, the top few links will be for paid advertisers, same with the links on the right side. Every click you make on them will earn google money from those sites.

THEY EARN FROM AD-WORDS, ALSO A GOOGLE PROGRAM THAT GOOGLE POSTS ON SOME OF THE WEBSITES. GOOGLE ACCOUNTS MEMBERS ALSO HAD THE POWER TO POST ADS SO THEY CAN EVEN EARN MONEY.
