I would like to back up the Correct fact that humpty dumpty was in fact an old war cannon, an egg has just been put in it's place for the nursery ryhmes. If you want proof of this text 83336 as this answers all your questions (i am not adverstising cos i work for them by the way).

That Humpty Dumpty is an egg is not actually stated in the rhyme. In its first printed form, in 1810, it is a riddle, and exploits for misdirection the fact that "humpty dumpty" was 18th-Century reduplicative slang for a short, clumsy person. Whereas a clumsy person falling off a wall would not be irreparably damaged, an egg would be. The rhyme is no longer posed as a riddle, since the answer is now so well known. Similar riddles have been recorded by folklorists in other languages, such as Boule Boule in French, or Lille

Because he was rather obese and therefore got out of breath easily. If he'd known how unsafe it was he probably would have waited till he found a seat somewhere. Does anyone know what happened to all his bits and pieces when all the king's horses and men couldn't put him back together again? What a way to start a Monday morning!!!!!!!!

If you know the history, like the ugly duckin, when Humpy was born he had a problem .. all his brothers and sisters were in egg form and they all hatched.

Humpy however NEVER hatched. He came out different.

Because he wanted to hatch, he tried to go closer to the sun, to keep him warm, so he could hatch from the egg quicker. But ended up falling.
