Im 36 and have been LEARNING for nearly two years. Just taken my grade 2. Im not in any rush, just another one of many interests. You could practice one or two pieces over a couple of months and pick them up ok. When you say learn maybe you mean to be able to pick up some sheet music and play it straight off. This takes years unless it is a very simple piece or unless your gifted. I personally find this (sight reading) very difficult but im trying my best. Just enjoy it. It is very rewarding. good luck

You could probably learn to play to a reasonable standard - given a lot of work on your part - in a couple of years, but as with so many other things in life, being a musician is an on-going thing, so you'll always be learning something new and being able to play that little bit better. Good luck with it - being able to play the piano (or any instrument of course) is a wonderful thing, and if nothing else, you'll never be short of the odd party invite or three !

It also depends on what level you are trying to reach. Its fairly simple to learn how to read music and play the piano at beginners level, but the more advanced you want to go the longer it will take.

To get to grade 8 piano, I suppose you need to give it about 12 years (rough guess)

Thats a bit like "how long's a piece of string" everybodys learning capabilites are different, and at what level or standard you consider yourself , and your peers consider you a player. Be sure you'll only get out of it what you put into it,set your sights on what you want to do in music and go for it.

completely depends on how musical you are, it would be a big adavntage if you already play another instrument. Age does make a difference though 25 is better than 45 but not as good as 5 (It gets harder as you get older)

Same as it would take anyone else. Why should age make a difference?

There is no average ,its all about how quickly you pick it up and how much you practice.
