If you must categorize, I have heard it given the title "Post-Post Modernism". But we will have to wait and see what trends develop since we have only seen 5% of what the century has yet to develop.

It has been suggested that we are now in a post-post-modernism era of art. I guess the rational for that is the feeling that post-modernism is too accepting (everything is art) and not discerning enough (everything is GOOD art). The feeling is that the pendulum is swinging back the other way to a more discriminating aesthetic where a work is shown to have some artistic merit other than the fact that someone made it, before it can be called "art."

Its not easily categorized because their are no recognizable movements as of yet. Post modern, neo modern...whatever you call it, has to cover a never before as broad a spectrum of styles, subjects, techniques or media (paint, digital, audio, video, clay, found objects...). Suffice it to say the world is very choatic at the beginning of the century (in religion, politics globalization of business...) and the art we produce is similiarly all over the board. If you look at what has happened to communications since the Internet, that pretty much follows the expressions of artists. The Net allows for a huge variety of "expressions" from databanks and information archives to blogs and emails; from VOIP to smart appliances. I expect in 25 years we may have a name to desribe what is being produced but I think the next movement hasn't happened yet...but it is very close. The flux cannot exist for long without some coagulation.

Everything that you just mentioned is part of 20th Century Art, give it another 50 years, and we will see what is 21st Century, then again, almost everything you mentioned was last half of 20th Century, so give it 100years. Art is not Art untill a group agrees that it is. And even then, a Goverment can declare it Obsene ,Anti Revolutionary, Pro Revolutionary, or whatever, and arrest as well as kill the artists.
