My Pomeranians were wonderful! However, you need to get them out and socialize them, meet a lot of other people and dogs, so they are happy to see other people, and not just their own family..Otherwise, they become fearful, untrusting and yappy..

I have had my Pom for 2 years now. He is WONDERFUL! Poms are very loyal dogs. They need to be socialized with other dogs and with other humans. Some can be a bit yappy, but if they are trained from an early age, this won't be so bad. Mine is a 2 year old male who I have socialized with many other breeds....dobies, hound dogs, terriers, even pitt bulls. He gets along with ALL of them. They are very social and outgoing. Small children might not do well with a Pom. Kids tend to poke, prod and play rough with dogs. Poms are little, mine's only 6 lbs, and they cannot withstand rough play like a lab or retriever might. They can get sufficient exercise indoors, but they do love to play outside. As far as their coat, Poms are constant shedders and they shed their undercoat twice a year. I brush mine daily and I rarely see hair around the house. They do require lots of attention, but thats one thing I love about the breed. I think all dogs should get lots of attention regardless of their breed.

It depends upon the owner.
Poms need a LOT of attention.
They're very loyal -- to a SINGLE owner. Which means if you're married, they'll attach to one or the other of you and get jealous with the second person.
Poms are the PERFECT dog for elderly widows. They yap like crazy when anyone comes near, love to be doted upon, and can be very cuddly.

hi i have chihuahuas which are very simular to poms, my mum has two poms they are lovely. They get on well with my dogs and children, they love lots of attention, and cuddles. Need grooming every day and loves walking in wind/rain/sun. You need to show your pom who is in charge at an early age. But, i would have no problems buying one anytime, they are lovely. If you have any questions about them, please dont hesitate to view my 360 and email me, i also have pictures on there of mums poms and a litter of chihuahuaxpomeranian pups i had this year. Good luck

All of the Poms I've known have bitten me. That's why I like Golden Retrievers and Sheepdogs.
