Many people don't get Yahoo answers very seriously, so you can't judge their intelligence, although in some way I agree with you. You can find very serious answers and questions, but... What bothers me the most are questions like: what are you listening right now, what were you eating for dinner, etc. Who cares? It is so stupid. Anyway, there is still hope for a mankind.

It is not advisable to either panic or put it off for some other time....... of course that is why you have posted the question.
I think YA can not be taken as a measure of intelligence..... a lot of people who are answering here are doing so for their own self satisfaction or merely as a time-pass. As a result, depending on the mood at the moment the question is taken up for answering and also the tone of the question itself, answers come in a wide range of characteristics .... some are witty, some hit back, some sympathise, some just say any irrelevant word/s to earn 2 points quickly and there are then these few others which genuinely are posted after pondering over the question and coming up with a sincere and intelligent response. It is just these few answers which, if at all, would reflect the level of intelligence..... unfortunately, some of them indeed disappoint while some others do make one sit up!!

No, Yahoo Answers is not just a measure of intelligence, although there are some really intelligent answers around. It is also people's psychology at play. For instance, you can answer really intelligently, but if you offend the asker, you certainly won't get picked as the best answer.
I think Yahoo Answers is a measure of IQ + EQ + how much one cheats. What do you reckon?

If it is what's that say about Neo's answer to your other question? (you don't ask a lot of questions by the way is that an indication of your intelligence?) perhaps it could be used to sort out the potentially insane from the general society but as most people either BS, or cut from wikipedia it can't be any true reflection of intelligence, I come for the questions but I stay for the neo Conservative Christan rants

I don't know about a measure of intelligence but i've helped so many schoolkids do book reveiws without reading books, and pass assessments without actually becoming enlightened (ie remaining silly little schoolkids) that i'm thinking of ditching this joint an going somewhere where i'm a) paid for my gems of stored wisdom, and/or b) worshipped as a god of knowledge. who's with me? i say let the cream rise to the top and let us be cleansed of these parasites! nb to self: perhaps there could be an area for enlightened people and an area for bloodsuckers for the enlightened ones to throw them a few juicy tidbits when they're in a magnanimous frame of mind...hmmm

9/10ths of this website would be empty if people knew how to use things like Google, Wikipedia, the database in their local library or the indexes in non-fiction books.
But, then again, at least the people here genuinely want to know things, so they ask questions. That's way more than you can say for people who have questions they don't ask because they don't want to sound stupid, or for people who don't have questions because they think they know the answers. At least this place is a testament to people's curiosity, and also their knowledge (sometimes).

Then, we truely are lost.....
Can every answer be correct?..... no.... and if that is the measure of our intelligence, those answers which are incorrect, then, as they say, "Let the blind, lead the blind"........
it only works for those who seek to follow those who have precluded that what they say is the truth.
But, intelligence dictates, that the answer is not right, "search" for truth....... If we depend on what everyone says, we will not find a truth.
Your sister,
Ginger
