It might do. The criteria are:
"Tyre condition
The reason for failure with respect to Tyre wear is:
"The grooves of the tread pattern are not at least 1.6mm throughout a continuous band comprising: the central three-quarters of the breadth of tread around the entire outer circumference of the Tyre".
Tyres must be correctly matched with regard to:
type
size
structure
NB. type or structure but not both.
Tyres on the same axle must be of the same structure and size.
Also examined:
general condition of Tyre
condition of valve.
Tyres fail if they have serious cuts, bulges or other damage.
The wear on the Tyre is checked with a Tyre tread depth gauge to ensure compliance.
The Tyres are examined to ensure that there is no fouling with any part of the vehicle.
Notes: Although under-inflation is not in itself a reason for failure, a brake test may be inadvisable because of possible damage, and it may affect headlamp alignment. The condition of the spare Tyre is not part of the MOT"
So it might fail on general condition. Tyres get tired eventually (excuse the pun), through age and exposure to the elements, and they are more at risk of blowouts etc. It depends on how the tester views the damage.

Yeah with a small crack the sidewall of your tyre has degraded over time and runs the risk of blowing out, say if you hit a bump at 70mph. Thats not to say it will happen, but the risk is there, plus as an MOT lasts for 12 months, in a years time they will be in worse condition than now. You might get away with it, they don't always notice every fault, but for peace of mind I'd change them, plus you will get a more comfortable ride with new tyres.
That sort of cracking is usually just the age of the tyres, especially if the car isn't used much.

Are you serious, they are perished and old! Get rid.
Do you wanna end up roof end down on a busy road?
The cracks in tyres are a danger and a threat to other road users, not to mention your licence to drive!
This is the only bit that rolls on the tarmac and therefore quite important!
The police check tyres this time of year too and quite rightly so.
During your MOT your seat belts, brakes, petrol cap, suspension struts and windscreen, lights, horn and emissions will be checked amount other things. These are all items of safety and help to protect you and other road users.
Try to look at the MOT test as a positive thing and a safety check by experts, who know what they are looking at.
For half an hour your car is scrutinised and at the end you will have peace of mind and satisfaction knowing that someone has looked at all the bits that could cause safety issues for you.
If you are a bit short of cash , phone a Taxi private hire company and ask them where they get their tyres from, it will be te cheapest place around! Tyres are as cheap as ever anyway especially Chinese imports. Many size of tyres are available for less than £30 each. The tyres on the rear of your car would have been better put onto the front, where they could have worn quicker.
Have a ring round and get prices, local independent fitters are often 50% cheaper than ATS/KWIK FIT/HALFORDS etc, shop around my friend.

could cause blowouts over time if u go round corners to quick. Is most probably due to corrosion and the fact that ur tyres are old, rear tyres last much longer than front, front drive the car and contend with power steering so get changed more often, unless u have a 4 wheel drive.

Cracks in the sidewall of the tyre could result in a blow out which will at best damage your wheel arch and wheel rim and at worst cause you to have a serious accident possibly involving others. Budget tyres are cheap and easily fitted in a garage. Plus if a police officer sees that you have defective tyres its 3 points and £60 fine per tyre. Replacing them is far cheaper

Usually the cracks in a tire are weather cracks from sitting in the sun and nasty weather. It could potentially be a blowout hazard, especially if they get hot enough but most peoples tires have them after a couple years and it usually does not pose a problem. Cracks will happen whether you drive the car or not.

yup, at high speeds the air inside the tyre heats up and expands, so the pressure increases, and a crack in the tyre could give way and lead to a blow out
