well... lets look at things that come out of other thigns... but we want to control it's rate.

Like... a faucet... it controls water flow with a valve.

hmm... how do we make a valve... but for AIR....

lets think... what does air need to travel.... how does an airconditioner work to move air? with fans... we can't install a fan in a baloon... what else moves air... howabout a the lungs? the esophagus in the throat and the diaphragm muscle controls air flow... since we can't attach a muscle to a balloon, we'll just simulate the esophagus. An esophagus is a tube... what else is a tube... a straw!

stick a straw in the baloon and tape down the opening to reduce air flow.

Put a piece of tape on the balloon. Then poke a hole through the tape with a pin. The tape will prevent the catastrophic rupture of the balloons surface and the air will escape slowly.
