This site's a bit goofy about what questions it deletes. Coming to your question, though, I've never understood the need to pick a 'best friend'. I always thought it was like picking a favourite between your siblings or your children. I have people in my life whom I am close to, and who support me (and whom I support in return). These people are my friends and I appreciate them - I never felt the need to put them in any kind of preferential order. That's something kids do in high school, and I didn't get it then, either. Just enjoy your friends for who they are - it'll take off a lot of pressure if you don't label them.

well, the one who USED to be my best friend, I met over 20 years ago when I was 4. we are still friends, but since I had my kids and have been in my relationship with thier father, she kinda stopped calling me and wanting to hangout. I thought about it, and it bothered me alot, but I remembered how she always put her boyfriends before me, like if we had plans, she would cancel to go make out.
Since, I have a new best friend. We have been friends for close to 20 years, and she has ALWAYS been there for me. She never stopped calling just because I became a mommy, and she still calls to hang out. She never talks bad about me (like my previous bff did), and she has strong morals like I do. We are so alike, yet so different, we never fight, we make each other laugh, we could have been sisters because we tell each other everything.

I don't think you can actually pick a "best friend" a best friend becomes a best friend because they are just that .... a best friend
A best friend is someone you can rely on who doesn't "want" anything in return for helping you and who is always there when you need them regardless of the circumstances .... in todays society a very rare breed indeed :)

A best friend will share at least some of the moral grounds that you have. Then through good and bad times, you get to really trust that person and your friendship grows even stronger.

Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget. That's why.
