I dont know what to do for New Years Eve....last time we didnt have a plan, my mum, dad, husband and i went to a restaurant....we left about 10pm and them came home...there wasn’t anything on tv and my boring hubby was tired and so went to bed!
We stayed up and watched a film and then at midnight i woke him up so we could sing in the new year....then after that we all went to bed!!!! It was the worst New Years ever!
Well this year is approaching fast and we dont have any plans so far....i dont want a repeat of last time, but i cant find anywhere that are advertising for a new years do.....
I live about 30 minutes for Cambridge, and 30 minutes from Stansted Airport, ( Very close to Bishops Stortford)
If anyone has any ideas id be very grateful!

maybe you could get a hotel where you plan to attend a new years eve party. That would be a fun time...Then you could stay up until 3am and then sleep till check out time.

It's interesting that the asker tells us she lives in East Anglia. I was born and brought up in southern England and then New Years Eve wasn't really celebrated at all. The boss would let us off work early - about 4.30, but we were expected back in work bright eyed and bushy tailed at 9am the following morning. That was in the days before New Years Day was a public holiday. When, 30 years ago, I moved to the North East I thought New Year would be really exciting with first footing, people holding open house until the next morning, booze flowing like water, but, sadly, I never found that to be the case. I think that, even then, most celebrations were held in hotels, pubs, etc. It is true that you usually need a ticket now to get into a pub, but I think that's common across the country. The previous suggestion that you all book into a hotel is a good one (if you can afford the extortionate prices that are charged)

Invite plenty of "fun" friends or relatives round to dinner (buffet), get the booze going, play games. Warn them in advance to come with ideas, funny stories, surprises etc... invite the neighbours as well so that they do not complain at the noise. Make it a dressing up party with prizes for the most original costumes etc...It is a lot of work but you will not be bored and you won't go to sleep...

Jehovah's Witnesses do no longer have a good time New Years because the celebrations originate with worship of pagan gods. as well, new years is in many situations linked with heavy ingesting, something else that Jehovah's Witnesses do no longer participate in. As on your associates, that is a possibility that they purely had associates over seeing that human beings in many situations have day off from paintings at New Years. even if, i won't be able to communicate for them, and each body ought to respond to for his or her own moves.

have a few friends over to ring in the New Year and be certain to have " crackers." have found that these are a great party remembrance and are not a " traditional " way of a remembrance at least here in the States. perhaps a pitch in or progressive dinner with the crackers and desert at your place.
