The thing is, she told me on our last night out that, "We have so much in common. I'm sure we were married in a previous life". I was just wondering if this is a general comment or something I should concern myself with i.e. could she be a lesbian? Because I'm definitely not.

It's been my experience that individuals with alternate lifestyles are quite open about it. I don't believe your friend's comment was an "overt signal" for you.

Your friend seems very happy about your budding friendship & merely expressed her thoughts. I believe this was a compliment to you & nothing more.

On the other hand, if she IS gay what would it matter? Would it change the wonderful experiences you've both shared?

Perhaps you should examine the emotions that were inadvertantly triggered by your friend's comment. Where are these emotions based? Are they based in past experiences, fear, shame, etc?

Really examine the "trigger" factor. That can tell you volumns & assist you in handling other situations in your life.

Self-awareness is the key to compassion towards and acceptance of those we interact with daily. If more people practiced this, I am sure our world would be better for it.

I want to leave with one final thought. Gays are human beings with just as many rights as you and I. That includes dignity & respect. As the bible says, "...do unto others as you would have others do unto you..."

I wish you enough.

Ask her!

Some people believe that we have several lives and can come back as male or female so it could that kind of belief she is referring to.

Next time you're out with her then just say that you were pondering her remark and what did she mean by it. It could all be innocent and your mind working overtime for no reason.

If she does say something that makes you feel uncomfortable by way of an explanation then just tell her tactfully that you're not interested in her that way and value her friendship only.

I have thought that about one or two men before but never about a woman, very odd thing for her to say, perhaps she is trying to tell you something!

I've never known one woman say this to another before.
