my friend is generally overweight and she totally believes that she is pregnant because the test told her that she was... But she doesnt feel like she is because she cant tell if her stomach is firm or not... so how can she tell?

If she just got a positive test then it's too early for her abdomen to be firm no matter what her weight is. For most 1st pregnancies the uterus doesn't rise above the pubic bone until 10-12 weeks, and it's the uterus that gives the "belly its firmness. I'm overweight and 9weeks pregnant and I can feel a hard ball in the very bottom of my abdomen. Just tell her to give it time.

The only way to really tell is by taking a pregnancy test. Depending on how overweight your friend is there may be enough room for her baby to grow and you still could not tell if she is pregnant. As she gets later into the pregnancy she will feel the baby to start kicking but it may be two to four weeks later than thinner women as the baby is not yet touching the stomach etc. I am a larger woman and it was difficult to say if I was generally just overweight or pregnant. Being overweight and pregnant means your friend really needs to watch her health and not put on much weight during pregnancy. I hope this helps.

If she is pregnant it takes a couple of month for you to feel any firmness in her stomach. She should just go to the doctor to get a blood test to comfirm. With my first pregnancy i didn't feel pregnant but i was.

you can tell weather your overweight or not, you can press on it and tell the difference....its firmer then normal, and it takes a little while before your stomach become firm too, if she just found out giver a few months and she will start to notice a little more firmness...

She is to early to feel firmness. If the HPT says positive go to the doctors and get the blood work. Fat people to get pregnant too!!!

I say she should go for a pregnancy test. That will surely show if she is pregnant or not
