Fantastic news that the date has actually been announced when the ban will come into effect - I July 2007.
This weekend I went to a Christmas do in an Italian restaurant and had to have a shower and wash my hair when I got home cause I reeked of everyone else's stale smoke. Also means I'll be able to visit a pub again on a Sunday afternoon and for pub quizzes, which I gave up a few years ago when I couldn't face the smoky haze any longer.
I think that on 1 July, all those in favour of the ban should visit a pub or similar to show the landlords that the new law won't be a disaster for their businesses.

Smoking is banned in public places in Eire and Scotland. Wales and Ulster will ban smoking in April 2007 and England, last as usual, will ban smoking in public places from 1st July 2007. There are also moves in the Commons to raise the legal age at which a person may buy tobacco to either 18 or 21.

Smoking rules (a minimum of the place I stay) are a reaction to the governments accountability to furnish secure working environments extra beneficial than for purchasers. If a business enterprise might desire to a fashion or the different devise a device that would exclude workers from exposure then they might have a case yet i don't see a bar with waitresses wearing own oxygen supplies being overly general. see you later because of the fact the regulation is enforced on all human beings, in simple terms bars that have not have been given sturdy provider will lose business enterprise. The documents coach this every time.

Great for England! I'm a smoker!
Give up I wish i could (puffin on a cig)
look gov either let us get on with it or stop selling it.
We ALL go cold turkey for a week or two, it saves millions of lives and if we have kids, mums, dads etc its saves them from crying when they find out we have cancer.
Yer I know BLACK MARKET, HANG the sellers, lock the users up for 3 weeks if they start to geting from black market.
WHY cold turkey after 3 weeks they should be able 2 give up with a lot of help and no fags on sale. If they still can get black market fags after this and they still want them FLOG them.
YES IT DOES TAKE AWAY FREEDOM OF CHOICE
if you could live another x amount of years because u stopped would you? if NO then if your kids mum dad etc wanted u 2 then is it worth freedom of choise is it worth a few days of pain?
