This happened to me when I was about 16, I stopped having periods and my mom immediately accused me of being pregnant. She took me to an OBGYN and they ran all the tests and found out that I wasn't pregnant but I had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. This is pretty much when your body thinks your a guy (hormone whys) and you start to show masculinity symptoms such as: male-pattern baldness or thinning hair, patches of thickened and dark brown or black skin on the neck, arms, breasts, or thighs, and skin tags, or tiny excess flaps of skin in the armpits or neck area. Some other symptoms are sleep apnea, such as snoring or your breathing stops while sleeping, I have that...I never snored before but I suddenly started when i got PCOS. If you go to the doctor and you do have this, they will put you on birth control, most likely the pill, and you will get your period back. There are some bad things about it though, you may become infertile due to not ovulating. This doesn't mean that you won't be able to have kids though, there are ways, such as fertility drugs, in vetro ferdilization, and if those don't work you can try a surrogate mother. But anyways, you should definitely get yourself to the doctor to get checked...you can email me if you need any further information about the syndrome, I've had it for about 3 years now.

hey babe,if you have had the ultrasound done, your dr would have contacted you if the findings were serious. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom is very common, sometimes drs dont respond right away - you'll have to contact your dr to get the results. Im a nurse - and also suffer from PCOS - so ya definately get some blood work done, make sure that your hormones are on the right track - if you are overweight - a reduction of 15 pounds even can help promote your period.. daily multivitamins are good, omega 3-6-9 pills are good, and green tea is an excellent antioxident.. its better to knip this in the bud now, while your young and your body is still relatively adjusting itself, if you plan to have kids one day, its important that you get that monthly period... 4yrs seems like a long time, I went 6 yrs at one point, but its all lifestyle changes and being active in your healthcare that 'll make the difference... good luck to yah!

Have your hormones checked, because this could mean ALOT of things. Ovarian cysts, polycystic ovarian syndrome, low progesterone levels and if you are overweight of underweight or exercise too much this can cause you to not have cycles.
Having hormones checked can help. If all checks all clear, you may want to be put on birth control pills for this will help regulate your periods. You may have to be put on Oral Progesterone to help you start your cycles if everything checks out ok.
See a doctor, usually the guideline is if you haven't had a period for 3 months, you should be checked.

Ofcourse it is a serious issue. If your scan shows that you are normal, then check for your hemoglobin level. It must be above 10.
If it is ok, then check for thyroid. Probably, you will have thyroid problem, or iron deficiency. Because I am also suffering from this. Doc. said to check these. I am waiting for my results.
all the best!

I would think so. Might need to go see a doctor. Maybe your hormones are messed up.
