If you buy a Fiskars paper trimmer -- available at Michaels (use coupon) , scrapbooking stores or Superstore, it comes with a cutting blade (orange) and a scoring blade (black). the scoring blade makes a "dent" in the paper so it doesn't crack when you fold it. ( plus you are guaranteed a straight line) Using a bone folder to finish off the crease makes it nice and crisp.

If you are working in press, place the card in platen machine and crease with single or double blades together

If you are not related to press, use hawk saw blade, use flat side, apply pressure on both sides, they fold it

hold it over a steaming tea kettle (without the tea) to soften it
then slowly bend it over the edge of a square corner like a table
if it feels like it's gonna crack, steam it more

I use the same weight paper, and mine doesn't crack.
Maybe you creased it too hard. I just lightly crease it.
