The difference you could take a couple of courses on something and hang out a shingle and call yourself a naturopath. I guess you wouldn't have to take courses either. A naturopathic doctor is someone who has gone through the full training and has an ND. They study the body and many forms of natural medicine in detail. You have to be very careful when choosing who to go to because some people call themselves a naturopathic doctor when the don't have the training. It is difficult because this profession is not fully regulated yet. Just be sure to do your research.
