I'm 33 weeks pregnant, and don't have far to go. I don't have any stretch marks so far that I can see, so my question is this:

Can you see stretch marks before before you have the baby? Or is it just a surprise afterward?
(I've never seen another pregnant woman's naked tummy before, and this is alllll new to me, lol).

Also, I have seen them AFTER someone has had their baby, but what do they look like before ...if there is any difference.

I meant before that is it a surprise to see them after you have the baby, not to get them after you have the baby... I know you can't get them afterwards.... lol

If you have them you would be able to see them! I have horrible ones on my belly, sides, thighs and butt! They are usually pink and look like a huge cat scratched you. And yes, if you are going to get them you will be able to see them before the baby gets here.

Good luck and congrats! :)

They would be "pink ribbons" on your skin, like a scar that is healing. If you don't see anything then you don't have any. They occur as the baby grows and your skin overstretches. You only get them during pregnancy, not afterwards. They are visible on your skin, s there would be no surprises. In late pregnancy, I could literally spot the new ones each morning (if there were any since the day before).

The other common reason for having stretch marks is puberty. The body has a growth spurt and your skin isn't large enough to cover the body without some tearing (stretching) happening. My husband and I both have a few stretch marks on our thighs from puberty.

Stretch marks are supposedly hereditary. All the women in my family who have had kids have them. I think mine equal all of the women combined. Mine got so bad with my first pregnancy, the ultrasound technician asked me if I was excited about having another baby, I was like another, this is my first. She said oh, you have alot of stretch marks for this to be your first. I was like great. But I say if you don't see any now, then there is a chance you won't get them. I'm kinda proud of mine, I have a precious 3 year old son as the result! Good luck!

You can have them during pregnancy, as i have, not too bad, thankfully because i do carry small, but have big babies, 7 and 8 pounders. I dont think there would be any reason for stretch marks afterwards.....nothing there to stretch anything out anymore. Do whatever your doing now and keep good care of your skin, as it already sounds like, your pretty lucky

To prevent stretch marks and scars effectively use cocoa butter or a mixture of olive oil and herbs. You can find more cheap and natural remedies for stretch marks and scars at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/stretchmarks.html

I had a baby and I don't have any stretch marks...not everyone gets them....if you don't have them and you're 33 weeks...you're prob not going to get them.

if you had stretch marks you would see them.

altho when I was pregnant the stretch marks didn't look nearly as bad as they did afterwards.

if you get them, it's a mark of your motherhood, and be proud of them!
