Why Am I Having Brown Discharge?

I have been having some brown discharge when I wipe lately. Sometimes there is enough for it to stain my panties. I am on Ortho Tri-Cyclen, I missed my pills for like 5 days or so. I am now having the discharge. Could I be pregnant? Or Am I just having a period? If I am just having my period, why hasn't any of the blood been red? Please help!

Brown discharge or blood is OLD BLOOD. Of course it can also be signs of an infection. But, since you did miss your pills for 5 days I hope you know you can get pregnant if you are sexually active. Especially on the Ortho TriCyclin-Lo. You can miss 1-2 pills as long as you double up but 5 PILLS... that is just too much.

If you are sexually active PLEASE go get checked. What you are supposed to do if you miss that many pills is just dump the pack you are on and start over next month. It is no use the rest of the month because you are NOT protected. Read the package insert and it will specifically tell you how many days you can miss. Even then you are still taking a chance.

You may not have your period and still keep having the brown spotting if you continued taking your pills after you missed your pills. Your body is trying to have a cycle but it is not because of the hormones. As soon as you stop you will have a full cycle if you are not pregnant.

Please go get checked.

sometimes the blood can be discolored but you are having a period. my very first period was brown and i thought something was wrong(that i couldn't control my bowel movements). if you keep taking the contraceptives, it will go back to normal. blood turns that color when it isn't fresh blood so don't worry. or if you want call your doctor and ask him/her advise. I'm sure you'll be fine though.

oh hell chick u are pregnant! tis happened to all my friends wen they were pregnant!!! thats how they found out there were preg oh hell get the pg test!! good luck and CONGRATS!!
