Yes, its very safe to take a woman who's water has just broken to the hospital in a car even when it takes an hour. It takes awhile to push out a baby and its likely that she's not dialated enough to push yet anyways.

Take a deep breath. You're going to be a Dad! There is still plenty of fluid still inside that is being blocked by the baby's head. If the water broke on it's own, that means the head is well engaged.
You have 24 hours from when the water breaks to the baby having to be delivered, but usually it happens sooner than that. My water broke after 3 hours of active labor and my daughter was born just under 2 hours after that, and I was considered quick.
Congratulations!

By pregnancy week 39 your baby now probably weighs between 7 and 7 and a half pounds, and is likely between 21 and 21 and a half inches long during pregnancy 39 weeks!
I am sure she will be absolutely fine. A childbirth especially the first child rarely will take 25mins,much closer to days than minutes. It is perfectly safe for them to drive her to the hospital, it will actually give her less stress than the trauma of an ambulance arriving so is safer for her and baby!
Congrats you will be a proud father soon!!

Babies take a while to arrive a 25 minute trip to the hospital is perfectly fine.... Your wife will likely be in labor for hours so the baby isn;t going to arrive in the car...
Relax..... As I told my husband during our horrifying trip to the hospital at 100+ MPH "Get us there in one piece not in the next 10 seconds.." While I can understand your wanting the best care for your wife and being nervous she is perfectly fine traveling to the hospital with your in-laws most women get to the hospital to have babies in cars not ambulances....

Safe...probably. Time is the real factor. If the water has broke you are up against the clock. The ambulance has trained EMT people that can handle this situation. Not to mention pain killers. Trained EMT people can deliver the child if need be then and there, inlaws probably don't have the same training or tools.

It should be alright, especially if this is her first child. My water broke around 4 p.m and I didn't have the baby til after 10. Just make sure they know right away that the water has already broken. Be calm, things will be alright.

It is absolutely safe. You can expect her to be in labor many hours after the water breaks. Only a tiny fraction of women deliver in less time than that.
